‘Tanzania-Korea Science and Technology Center (iTEC: Innovative Energy Technology Center)’ has been established with the cooperation between ‘Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Seoul National University (SNU)’ and ‘Nelson Mandela African Institute of Science and Technology (NM-AIST)’ founded by ‘World Bank’ and Tanzanian government, with the support of ‘Korean Ministry of Science and ICT’ and ‘National Research Foundation of Korea’. iTEC, the energy industry-linked science and technology center, aims to develop, educate and commercialize innovative appropriate technology suitable for Africa using renewable energy and ICT in electric power, agriculture, health and education for the sustainable development of Africa for the next four years (2017-2020).

iTEC cooperates with around 30 organizations including the SDGs lab from Complex Systems Science Lab (SNU), Asian Institute for Energy, Environment and Sustainability (AIEES, SNU), the Global Education Cooperation Division (SNU), Institute for Global Social Responsibility (IGSR.SNU), Hanyang University, Handong Global University, Academic Society for Appropriate Technology (ASAT), Eduardo Mondlane University in Mozambique and Small Industries Development Organization (SIDO).

E3Empower, an international social development organization with offices in the USA, Korea and Tanzania, is the main local partner of iTEC. It operates programs through international partnerships with private, government and academic sectors.
